Typewriter is developed by George Francis. This policy covers the Typewriter app and its support and privacy website.

Your writing stays on your device

Typewriter stores document titles, text, document types and modification dates in the app's local storage. Preferences such as your chosen finish, layout, type size, sound and haptic settings are also saved on your device. These records let you write, organise your library and keep your settings. The app does not send them to us or to a developer-operated server.

Typewriter does not require an account and works offline. It does not include advertising, tracking, third-party analytics SDKs or in-app purchases. We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

Sharing and backups

When you choose Share, Typewriter provides the selected document's title and text to the system share sheet. The app or service you choose then handles the content under its own privacy practices. Sharing is initiated by you.

Typewriter does not provide its own cloud sync or backup service. Your device or computer backups may include app data depending on your Apple settings. Apple handles its services under its own privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.

Deleting and keeping your writing

To delete a document, open the writing library and use its Delete action, then confirm. Local writing remains until you delete it or remove the app's data. Deleting a document does not remove copies you previously shared, exported or backed up. Manage those copies in the relevant app, service or backup settings.

We cannot retrieve or delete your local documents remotely because we do not receive them. Use Share to keep copies of important work before deleting the app or changing devices.

Support enquiries

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use that information to answer your enquiry and investigate the reported issue. Please send only the information needed to explain the problem; you do not need to send private writing or account passwords.

Support correspondence is handled by the email service used for the enquiry. We retain it only as long as needed to handle the request and meet applicable legal obligations. Where applicable, our legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing support or compliance with a legal obligation.

Apple services

Apple may process download, device and diagnostic information under its own terms and your settings. Apple may make sales reports and diagnostics available through its developer services. This is separate from in-app analytics; Typewriter does not include an analytics SDK or send us your writing.

This website

These pages are hosted on Netlify. We do not add analytics scripts, advertising, cookies, external fonts or embedded trackers. Netlify may process technical information, including IP addresses and request details, when serving the pages. See the Netlify Privacy Statement: https://www.netlify.com/privacy/.

External websites and apps have their own privacy practices.

Your choices and rights

You can delete local documents in the app and manage backups through your Apple settings. Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of personal information, or request a portable copy. Contact us about information you have sent in a support enquiry. Contact Apple, Netlify or a sharing service about information they handle independently.

Children's privacy

Typewriter does not ask users to provide a name, email address or profile, and we do not knowingly collect children's personal information through the app. Contact us if you believe a child has sent personal information directly to us so we can address it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or our practices change. The date above identifies the latest revision.
